My name is Nirku Rai<\/strong>. I was born 48 years ago in the small Rai tribal village of Lokhim<\/strong> located in the foothills of the Solu\/Khumbu region of Nepal where the highest mountains in the world touch the sky. Like many other young men of my generation, I heard of the exploits of the great international mountaineers and the brave Nepali guides who made their successes possible. After finishing my basic education in a small government school, I ventured to Kathmandu to find a place for myself in this epic adventure and potential livelihood. I was very fortunate to arrive in Kathmandu in 1991 when tourism in Nepal was in its relative infancy and opportunities for young men like myself to participate and learn the skills of this unprecedented new sector of Adventure tourism was flourishing. I was given the opportunity to work with some of the most successful, innovative and experienced founders of international adventure travel and I gained invaluable experience in all aspects of the logistical and social skills that are imperative in being responsible for taking our international guests into the mountains, jungles and historical destinations of Nepal.\u00a0 After many years of this apprenticeship, I formed my own company with the best and brightest of my colleagues.

For over 20 years we operated a very successful partnership with International Schools in the region such as Singapore American School, United World College of SE Asia, International School of Kula Lumpur and over 15 other major international educational institutions to bring large groups of teacher supervised students to Nepal for multidimensional experiences of personal and educational discovery, physical challenge and community service. We also collaborated with hundreds of independent travelers who had a wide range of aspirations and objectives and successfully helped them to fulfil the logistical requirements required for their adventurous ambitions, artistic visions and humanitarian objectives. Working together with international and domestic medical teams that brought the basic human right of adequate health care and freedom from unnecessary suffering to people living in the remotest regions of Nepal and Ladakh has been one of the most inspirational aspects of my career.

With the paradigm shift brought about by the COVID epidemic, I have decided to adapt to the new reality by focusing on smaller, highly personalized experiences for individual travelers. Drawing on my decades of experience, profound insights into logistical requirements, deep respect for Nepal’s rich culture, and genuine appreciation for hosting discerning adventure seekers, I am committed to providing a tailor-made experience. I have had the great pleasure of trekking alongside and working with Nirku during numerous trips and medical camps over the past 25 years. On one occasion I recall having been delayed for several hours at the Kathmandu airport with a group of 8 ladies. We were hopefully heading for Lukla in the morning window of possible clear weather. We had a full 10 day itinerary planned and in reality the weather did not look promising for a few days. Instead of wasting time and with Nirku\u2019s prompting we decided there and then to go to the Annapurna region instead! Nirku changed all the reservations for flights, lodges, transportation, guide etc within a very short time, whilst we sat at the airport and we took the next flight to Pokhara and had a really memorable trip.
